Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech is about a young 13 year-old girl, Salamanca Tree Hiddle. She is traveling to Idaho along with her grandparents to see her mother. Her goal for this trip is to try to bring her mother back home. While on this journey, Salamanca visits many famous landmarks and tells her grandparents about the story of her good friend, Phoebe Winterbottom. Salamanca's first encounter with Phoebe is when Sal moves to Euclid, Ohio, with her father. When Phoebe's mother disappears, Phoebe and Sal think a potential lunatic is responsible for her disappearance. Sal and Phoebe eventually discover the surprising circumstances surrounding the disappearance.

I think this book is mysterious and entertaining. It's fun to read because some of the characters have amusing personalities. The grandparents really made me laugh. I also enjoyed reading this book because it aroused my curiosity. I wanted to keep on reading and learn more about the characters and the mystery of Mrs. Winterbottom's disappearance. This book is sad as well. I usually like books that are happy but at the same time a little sad, so this was a perfect book for me.

I recommend Walk Two Moons to kids who are twelve years old or older. They could probably relate to the book more easily because the main characters are around the age of thirteen. If you like adventurous, humorous, and sad stories, this is the book for you!

Even though Sal is against leaving the house she grew up in, after her mom goes off to Idaho Sal and her dad move to Euclid, Ohio. Sal thinks it is her fault that her mother is gone. In Euclid, Sal meets a girl named Phoebe Winterbottom who also has a mom who goes away. Phoebe is receiving weird letters from a person whom she thinks is a possible lunatic. Salamanca tells the story of Phoebe to her Gramps and Grams on a road trip to Lewiston, Idaho. It's important to Salamanca that they reach Lewiston on her mother's birthday. Along the way, they stop off in towns with landmarks and enjoy the sights.

I liked Walk Two Moons. I thought the story line was interesting, but it switches back and forth too much and is a little confusing. Another thing I enjoyed about this book is the cool places across the upper Midwest and western states that Salamanca and her grandparents visited. Walk Two Moons is also well-written. I found it mysterious. I was often wondering what was going to happen next.

I would recommend reading this book to people ages 11 and older. People who like to travel and see the country would also enjoy it and so would people who like mystery and suspense.

However, when I continued reading, I noticed connections between the various events taking place. I saw how Phoebe's story and Salamanca's story intertwined. I also noticed two messages in this story. The first message is that you should never take things for granted. The second is that you should not make assumptions about people before you actually get to know them.
