Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech is about a young 13
year-old girl, Salamanca Tree Hiddle. She is traveling to Idaho
along with her grandparents to see her mother. Her goal for this
trip is to try to bring her mother back home. While on this journey,
Salamanca visits many famous landmarks and tells her grandparents
about the story of her good friend, Phoebe Winterbottom. Salamanca's
first encounter with Phoebe is when Sal moves to Euclid, Ohio,
with her father. When Phoebe's mother disappears, Phoebe and
Sal think a potential lunatic is responsible for her disappearance.
Sal and Phoebe eventually discover the surprising circumstances
surrounding the disappearance.
I think this book is mysterious and entertaining. It's fun to
read because some of the characters have amusing personalities.
The grandparents really made me laugh. I also enjoyed reading
this book because it aroused my curiosity. I wanted to keep on
reading and learn more about the characters and the mystery of
Mrs. Winterbottom's disappearance. This book is sad as well.
I usually like books that are happy but at the same time a little
sad, so this was a perfect book for me.
I recommend Walk Two Moons to kids who are twelve years
old or older. They could probably relate to the book more easily
because the main characters are around the age of thirteen. If
you like adventurous, humorous, and sad stories, this is the
book for you! |

Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech is about a girl named
Salamanca Tree Hiddle. She used to live in Bybanks, Kentucky
until she moved to Euclid, Ohio with her father. She meets new
people there, including a lady named Mrs. Cadaver that her father
might be liking. Sal makes friends with Phoebe Winterbottom,
an interesting and rather mysterious girl her own age. Sal takes
a road trip with her grandparents to Idaho from Ohio. It's very
important to Sal to get to Lewiston, Idaho before her mother's
birthday. Along the way she stops at some places with her grandparents
and tells them stories about Phoebe Winterbottom's mysterious
letters, potential lunatic, and her mom's leaving.
I thought Walk Two Moons
was an interesting book. The characters were very well-written
and highly enjoyable. I especially liked Sal's grandparents.
They were funny people with great personalities who liked to
joke around and have fun. At times Walk Two Moons was
mysterious. I wasn't always sure what the real story was, and
I liked that. It made it even more interesting. On the whole,
the book was very funny, but it did have some sad and touching
moments.
I recommend Walk Two Moons
to readers ages 12 and older. People who enjoy interesting and
mysterious books will have a fun time reading Walk Two Moons.

Walk Two Moons is about 13 year old Salamanca Tree
Hiddle who lives on a farm in Bybanks, Kentucky. Everything is
going well until her mother goes away. After that, her father
and Sal move to Euclid, Ohio. She absolutely hates it there.
It takes Sal a long time to get used to the place, but eventually
she does. She meets a girl named Phoebe Winterbottom whose mom
has also gone away. Sal's grandparents take her along on a road
trip across country to Lewiston, Idaho to see her mom. They make
many stops on the way, not all of them planned. It's very important
to Sal that they get there before Sal's mother's birthday. What
will Sal find when she arrives?
Walk Two Moons touched me in many ways. I thought it was
a well-written book. The plot was easy to understand. I could
relate to Sal because we are about the same age, and I am not
living with my mom either. I enjoyed reading about all the different
places Sal visited with her grandparents. Walk Two Moons
was different than many other books I have read.
If there were a certain age
group I would recommend Walk Two Moons to, I would say
readers eleven years or older would enjoy the book. The vocabulary
isn't difficult. I would also recommend it to people like my
father who appreciate a story where many different things are
taking place. I absolutely loved this book. It was an adventurous
and exciting read.

Walk Two Moons is written by Sharon Creech. It is
about a Native American girl named Salamanca Tree Hiddle. She
was born in Bybanks, Kentucky. Even though Sal is against leaving
the house she grew up in, after her mom goes off to Idaho Sal
and her dad move to Euclid, Ohio. Sal thinks it is her fault
that her mother is gone. In Euclid, Sal meets a girl named Phoebe
Winterbottom who also has a mom who goes away. Phoebe is receiving
weird letters from a person whom she thinks is a possible lunatic.
Salamanca tells the story of Phoebe to her Gramps and Grams on
a road trip to Lewiston, Idaho. It's important to Salamanca that
they reach Lewiston on her mother's birthday. Along the way,
they stop off in towns with landmarks and enjoy the sights.
I liked Walk Two Moons. I thought the story line was interesting,
but it switches back and forth too much and is a little confusing.
Another thing I enjoyed about this book is the cool places across
the upper Midwest and western states that Salamanca and her grandparents
visited. Walk Two Moons is also well-written. I found
it mysterious. I was often wondering what was going to happen
next.
I would recommend reading this book to people ages 11 and older.
People who like to travel and see the country would also enjoy
it and so would people who like mystery and suspense. |

Idaho, in search of Sal's mother. Along the way, they visit many

and the mystery behind Phoebe's mother's disappearance. Phoebe
receives suspicious notes that are possible leads to her mother's
whereabouts. While recounting this story, Salamanca realizes
that she and Phoebe have similar feelings and emotions about
their mothers.
When I first saw the cover of Walk Two Moons, I thought
it would be a boring book. However, as I continued reading, I
started to thoroughly enjoy it. The story was filled with suspense
and excitement. I enjoyed the mysterious notes Phoebe received
because I had to really think about what they meant. It was easy
to understand the characters and their experiences. I was able
to connect with Phoebe because I, too, have a wild imagination.
That was the best part of the novel.

a thirteen year-old girl named Salamanca Tree Hiddle who moves
from a farm in Bybanks, Kentucky to live in Euclid, Ohio. At
first, Sal is very unhappy, but then she becomes friends with
Phoebe Winterbottom. Phoebe is nervous by nature and has a lot
of imagination. Phoebe believes her family is being watched by

doorstep. When Phoebe's mother disappears, the two girls try
to solve the mystery as they try to find her. Sal tells her grandparents
all about Phoebe and her mother's disappearance as they are taking

While traveling, they stop at some out of the ordinary places

not reach Idaho in time for her mother's birthday, which is very,
very important to Sal.
I thought Walk Two Moons was fantastic! It completely
takes you away into someone else's life. The writing is easy
to understand which makes it easy to follow the story. I thought
Creech's characters were funny. I especially liked the way Sal's
grandparents still talked to each other as if they were teenagers.

twelve years old. People who enjoy adventures would enjoy this
book. |

to learn about an exciting tale of how a 13 year-old girl solves
many bizarre mysteries fabricated by her best friend's imagination.
and how she embarks on an emotional journey which changes her
life.
When I first started this book, it seemed confusing because I
was not sure where the story was heading. However, when I continued
reading, I noticed connections between the various events taking
place. I saw how Phoebe's story and Salamanca's story intertwined.
I also noticed two messages in this story. The first message
is that you should never take things for granted. The second
is that you should not make assumptions about people before you
actually get to know them.
Walk Two Moons is a great book because the characters
come alive, and their experiences seem real. I would recommend
this book to people who like novels with many intriguing mysteries
and surprising twists.

The book Walk
Two Moons by Sharon Creech is about Salamanca Tree Hiddle.
Sal' mother left a year before to go to Idaho and has not returned.
Sal and her father leave their farm in Bybanks, Kentucky and
move to Euclid, Ohio. Sal loved living on the farm and doesn't
like her new home. She misses the great outdoors, but most of
all she misses her mom. In Euclid, she meets Phoebe Winterbottom,
a girl with family problems, too. Phoebe is sure that she is
being stalked by a potential lunatic. Sal tells her grandparents
all about Phoebe and her family problems as they journey to Lewiston,
Idaho in search of Sal's mother. It is very important that they
reach it before her mom's birthday, but something happens that
might make that impossible.
Walk Two Moons is a fantastic book! I enjoyed reading
it very much. I especially liked the mystery parts. Who was the
lunatic? What happened to Sal's mom? What happened to Phoebe's
mom? It seemed like each of the characters had their own secrets.
I thought the story line was interesting, and I loved the ending.
This is a great book. I recommend
Walk Two Moons to readers fifth grade and older. This
story has something for everyone in it. It makes everyone want
to read it. It has mysteries and happy endings.

Sharon Creech's
Walk Two Moons is the story of thirteen year-old Salamanca
Tree Hiddle who is on a journey with her grandparents to try
and find her mother who left for Idaho a year before and has
not returned. Sal and her father move to Euclid, Ohio where Sal
makes friends with Phoebe Winterbottom, whose family has their

sayings are being left on Phoebe's front porch. Sal and Phoebe
conduct their own investigation to find out the identity of Phoebe's
"potential lunatic." Sal tells her grandparents all
about Phoebe and her problems as they travel by car to Idaho.
It's important to Sal that they reach Lewiston, Idaho before
her mother's birthday. Along the way Sal and her grandparents
stop at some historical and not-so-historical places.
I thought Walk Two Moons was great! Sharon Creech's characters
were amazing. I definitely agree that this book deserved the
1995 Newberry Medal. I loved how Creech's characters were planned
out so carefully. I especially admired the way Sal's grandparents
behaved. They were so full of life. My other favorite character
was Sal. She was always so determined and was capable of doing
just about anything. This novel has a little bit of everything
in it - humor, drama, mystery and action. I believe that is the
secret to what makes books great.
Walk Two Moons is for people with big imaginations. I
would certainly recommend this book to anybody. If you don't
read Walk Two Moons you're missing out on a great book!

this book to find out what happens to both Sal's and Phoebe's

While reading this book I thought there were two stories being
told. One was about Sal's family and her trip to Idaho. The other
story was about Phoebe's family. I didn't understand what the
plot was about at first, but then after reading further, I started
to get it. I felt like I was switching books every few seconds
because of the two stories. It was great fun. I could understand
what Sal was feeling. I have a brother whom I have not seen for
a while because he is in the Air Force. It's difficult to not
see a family member for a long time.
I would recommend Walk Two Moons to anyone eleven years
or older. The book is hard to comprehend at first, but it is
an exciting story. It contains a lot of bizarre and intriguing
twists. The end was the best part! |
