Solomon School is Winner of $10,000 Creative Schools Grant
Solomon recently discovered that Mrs. Stirling, Music Teacher and Lead Arts Liaison, was awarded a $10,000 grant for her proposed art-integrated project, "Dancing with Class".  Because of her efforts, Solomon School will be receiving a BALLROOM DANCING residency program for students in grades 3rd-8th and will be collaborating with a nearby arts partner, May I Have This Dance (5246 N. Elston).  Students will receive additional arts instruction per week including one hour/week from a professional dance educator beginning the week of February 23rd and ending the week of June 5th.  There will be a special Dancing with the Solomon Stars event late this spring that will showcase the students' talents and assist in narrowing down winners to progress to a citywide competition in May.  We need help with costumes, food service, decorating, and pulling out all the stops for this special event!  If you are available and interested in assisting, please contact Mrs. Stirling at hjstirling@cps.edu. Stay posted - this is an event that you will not want to miss!
